Quickly ascending through the ranks, he transitioned to a role as director of photography and training within just two years. After gaining valuable experience at various photography studios, Christopher decided to venture out on his own.

My journey in pest control began in the summer of 1998 as a door-to-door sales rep for Orkin Pest Control. After a high school friend talked me into selling pest control door to door, my wife and I packed up almost everything we owned into our Nissan Altima and drove across the country from Utah to Alabama to sell 1-year service agreements for Orkin.
Out of several hundred rookie sales reps that summer, I earned the Rookie of the Year award by selling nearly 500 accounts. Needless to say, I was hooked on door-to-door pest control sales and came back for 2 more summers while finishing my undergrad degree at BYU.
My second summer I sold in Richmond, Virginia and placed in the top 5 by selling nearly 600 accounts, and my third summer I sold in Jacksonville, Florida and finished second in overall sales in the company selling nearly 700 accounts.
After my third summer of door to door, having earned my degree in Broadcast Communications, and contemplating a career in television news, I was offered and accepted a position with Orkin’s primary marketing firm, Eclipse Marketing, as VP of sales.
I accepted this position and was tasked to build out a national sales training program for Orkin’s d2d program. I was also tasked to sell accounts door to door for Orkin in markets where they did not have a d2d presence to determine if these markets would be viable options for d2d sales teams.  
With my travel schedule becoming increasingly busier, and my wife and I having our first child, I decided to start my own company in Utah and partnered with a colleague from Orkin who was running franchises for them in New Mexico and Missouri.  
It was the perfect partnership because he was familiar with running the day-to-day operations of a pest control company, and I knew how to sell a lot of accounts! We started Mountain West Pest Control in the spring of 2003 with just the two of us, me selling and him spraying, and in our first 5 months, I sold nearly $500k in new business! After that summer, we began hiring a door-to-door sales team for the next year.
Before we could afford to hire support staff, my business partner and I did everything necessary to ensure our company operated efficiently and effectively. From customer service, routing, payroll, ordering products, buying trucks and equipment, we were both all in!
After building successful door-to-door summer sales teams for 4 more years, we became the largest residential pest control company in the state and were acquired by Service Master (Terminix) in 2007.
Our Utah branch was not our only location, prior to the acquisition, we started companies in other states including Oklahoma (2004), Minnesota (2005), Nebraska (2006), Arkansas (2008), Tennessee (2010), and Iowa (2012). These companies were branded as Rove Pest Control.
In 2015, we were once again acquired by Service Master, with the exception of our Minnesota branch, which is now the location of our corporate headquarters. Since the 2015 acquisition, we have launched other branches in Wisconsin, Michigan, Massachusetts, and Arizona.
I played a key role in launching our commercial sales program and continue offering my training services to our internal team, as well as coaching and mentoring others in the pest control industry.  
My two books (Door-to-Door Millionaire & MORE Door-to-Door Millionaire) are best sellers in the direct sales space and have given me the opportunity to impact other home service companies who utilize door-to-door sales.
